Wikidata records 1,177 hotels that opened in the 2000s, from 2000 to 2009, in 97 countries; most of them in Indonesia (290), Vietnam (103) and the United States (98).[1][2] The best known, by the number of Wikipedia language editions with an article on it, is Trump International Hotel and Tower, opened in 2009. The year with the most recorded openings is 2009, with 185.
Method
A hotel is listed under the year of the earliest date Wikidata gives for its official opening or, where it gives none, its inception. For a building converted into a hotel, the inception is often that of the building. Hotels that have since closed are included. Decades with at least 25 dated hotels have a list of their own. Within each year, hotels are in alphabetical order.[1][2]
