The hotel opened in 2009. It was designed by Asymptote Architecture. [1]

Measured in a straight line, the hotel is 21 km from the centre of Abu Dhabi. The nearest airport with scheduled flights is Zayed International Airport (AUH), about 26 km from the centre of Abu Dhabi.[4]
