Wikidata records 78 hotels that opened in the 1800s, from 1800 to 1809, in 20 countries; most of them in Germany (23), Poland (12) and Switzerland (9).[1][2] The best known, by the number of Wikipedia language editions with an article on it, is Hotel Polski, opened in 1808. The year with the most recorded openings is 1800, with 49.

Method

A hotel is listed under the year of the earliest date Wikidata gives for its official opening or, where it gives none, its inception. For a building converted into a hotel, the inception is often that of the building. Hotels that have since closed are included. Decades with at least 25 dated hotels have a list of their own. Within each year, hotels are in alphabetical order.[1][2]
