Wikidata records 45 hotels as opening in 1979, in 19 countries; most of them in the United States (9), Taiwan (6) and the Maldives (5).^[1][2] The best known, by the number of Wikipedia language editions with an article on it, is The Vanderpump Hotel Las Vegas. A hotel is listed under the year of the earliest date Wikidata gives for its official opening or, where it gives none, its inception - for a building converted into a hotel, often that of the building. Hotels that have since closed are included.^[1][2]
