Opened in 1913 and expanded in 1929, it is one of the city's finest examples of Beaux Arts architecture, and was for many years its finest and most opulent hotel. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The hotel opened in 1912. It was designed by Esenwein & Johnson, in the Neoclassical architecture and Beaux-Arts style. It is listed as a National Register of Historic Places contributing property and a National Register of Historic Places listed place. [1]
